Aspen, it’s getting hot in here…
You know the drill all too well by now. The clock strikes two am. A tired bouncer (or two) hustle you and your squad outta the last bar of the night. Out in the cold, your sweat begins to freeze, the mountain appears to be swaying, and wham!! …it hits you. You are STARVING.
Late Night food in Aspen is, pardon the pun, more than a bit stale. There are only so many times one can mow down NY Pizza or Popcorn Wagon snackage before wandering into the Shell mini-mart to splurge on binge food and host a picnic for one in bed.
If just the very thought of this bums you out, Messenger Aspen is about to make your weekend!
Fresh, new after-hours chow at Tanuki To-Go is now yours for the ordering. To find this Aspen hidden gem, you have to be in the know. It’s that inconspicuous. If you’ve ever wondered what the back of the house at Bootsy Bellows looks like, you’re about to get a real close-up and personal experience.
Duck into the back alley behind Bootsy’s, and look for a sign of any sort… there’s talk of hanging Christmas lights, but if those aren’t hung yet, a waft of sizzling duck or bacon should be clue enough. Upon entering the kitchen, you’ll see the popular local Chefs, Adam and Jonathan, in full jinjitsu-like action while whipping up their “asian in a box” inspired menu. To say their dishes are outrageously tasty is an understatement. Sink your teeth into the Drunken Master Mu Shu Burrito only to hear yourself moan softly with pleasure, and we tried this thing sober at four in the afternoon! If veggies aren’t your jam, no worries, Tanuki To-Go serves up She so Saucy Kung Pao Brisket, Double Double Korean Trouble Burger, and the ever-popular Chicken & Waffles, but with a Santori Chinese twist i.e. spicccyyy!!
While waiting for food, you’re in the kitchen with Jonathan and Adam, who could moonlight as a comedy act (they are that entertaining.) This duo might even have their stage names already Chef Genghis Picaccu and Chef Yimmy Neutron, but you’ll have to get the scoop from them.
Late night just got a little more delicious, but for a limited time only. Unless, of course we show these esteemed Chefs the love! To do that, take your bad self to the back alley and take your taste buds for a heavenly post-party ride!
